Sorry to tell you but there is no local multiplayer or co-op (splitscreen) in NFS: Most Wanted and several of the other NFS games. There is only competitive online Multiplayer for 2-8 players and you cannot be on the same Xbox 360. You can confirm this by reading the details on the back of the game case.

You have to use the Easy Drive menu to join a multiplayer game. Press Right on the d-pad (if you’re using a controller) then press down until you’re on “Multiplayer” and then press right again. I think you can also launch an MP game from the pause menu too.
