What does self-saucing pudding mean?

adjective. US Cooking. Of a sweet pudding: that produces its own sauce during cooking. A self-saucing pudding is typically prepared with a layer of batter above or below a layer of ingredients (such as syrup, sugar and hot water, etc.) intended to form the sauce while the pudding itself cooks.

Can you freeze a self-saucing pudding?

Not suitable to freeze or microwave. Self-saucing puddings are a little bit of kitchen magic. The quite thick and heavy batter becomes the cakey part, while the added boiling water helps form a delicious sauce.

How do you make chocolate pudding?

Microwave Directions:

  1. Stir together sugar, cocoa, cornstarch and salt in large microwave-safe bowl; gradually stir in milk.
