How do you lace dress boots?
Start by going straight across the two bottom eyelets, from outside to inside. Both ends of the lace should be coming out from under the eyelets. With the right lace, go straight up to the next eyelet and pull it from the inside to the outside. Then, go through the eyelet directly across to the left, outside to inside.
What is open vs closed lacing?

How do loggers tie their boots?
Lace your boots as normal, until you get at or just above the ankle. Instead of going to the next eyelet up diagonally, take each lace to the next eyelet (or hook) up vertically, creating a loop on the outside of the vamp. Run each lace across the boot through the loop on the opposite side, then pull tight.
Why do my dress shoes have two sets of laces?
If your shoes have an odd number of eyelet pairs (eg. 7 pairs = 14 eyelets), one shoelace will pass through more eyelets than the other. The two shoelaces will therefore need to be different lengths. To determine the exact lengths needed, use my Shoelace Length Calculator.
