It is known that conjugated diene hydrocarbons, soluble in acids (so-called acid soluble oil (ASO)), are formed as by-products in the isobutane alkylation with butene catalyzed by H2SO4 and HF [4], [5]. ASO built-up in acid does not influence the alkylation product distribution but poisons the catalysts.
