What is refrigerant 449A?

Opteon™ XP40 (R-449A) refrigerant is an environmentally sustainable, non-ozone depleting refrigerant offering a low global warming potential (GWP) and a superior R-507 replacement. Opteon™ XP40 (R449A) has been successfully used in a wide range of commercial refrigeration applications.

What is the difference between R448A and R449A?

R449A has a larger heat transfer coefficient than R448A due partly to its 2% larger thermal conductivity and its 6% smaller temperature glide as illustrated in Table 3. As a percentage, the heat transfer coefficients for R449A and R448A are 26 to 43% and 31 to 48%, respectively, less than that of R404A.

Can 404A replace R22?

R404A and R507A as substitutes for R22 and R502. These blends are chlorine free substitutes (ODP = 0) for R22 as well as for R502 in medium and low temperature ranges.

What is the replacement for R404A?

What are the best replacements for R404A? For cold rooms and other small to medium commercial refrigeration applications, R448A and R449A and R452A or R134a are excellent alternatives to R404A, with from 50 to 65% reduction in GWP.

Can you mix 448A and 449A?

To prevent compressor damage, do not charge liquid into the suction line. R-452A and R-448A/R-449A should not be mixed with any other refrigerant.

What is r407a refrigerant?

Freon™ 407A (R-407A) refrigerant is a reliable, stable, and nonflammable option for low- and medium-temperature refrigeration systems. This non-ozone depleting, hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant is a replacement for R-22 and provides a lower global warming potential (GWP) alternative to R-404A and R-507.

Is R448A a replacement for R22?

R448A is not a “Drop-in” Replacement Many retrofits have demonstrated the suitability of most installed R22 valves to operate satisfactorily with R448A. Electronic expansion devices will require a software upgrade to accommodate R448A.

Is R448A compatible with R404A?

R448A is a suitable replacement gas for R404A systems. It can be used in new installations and as a direct replacement gas in existing systems. The GWP drops significantly from 3920 to 1386.

What is the difference between R22 and R404A?

The exhaust pressure of R404A refrigerant is about 1.2 times that of R22, and the mass flow rate is about 1.5 times that of R22. The exhaust flow rate increases and the resistance increases. Generally speaking, the heat exchange capacity of the condenser is increased by 20% to 30% than R22.

Is 404a refrigerant still available?

All new cooling and refrigeration systems that support R-404a will no longer be available from 1st January 2020. Therefore throughout 2018 and 2019, the refrigeration systems running on R-404a will need to be replaced or support a retrofit alternative refrigerant.

Is R404a banned?

Recovered or reclaimed R404a can be used until the end of 2030, then all replacement R404a will be banned. After 1 Jan 2020, virgin R404A will not be permitted for maintenance and servicing.

Can you use 404A in place of 448A?

In most instances, the lubricant in use with R-404A or R-507A is suitable for use with R-448A. Honeywell recommends using a miscible lubricant approved by the compressor manufacturer. Differences among lubricants make it difficult to assume that they are interchangeable.

What is 448A refrigerant?

The R-448A refrigerant gas is an HFC+HFO blend and a direct drop-in replacement for R-404A and R-507 in existing systems. As with all HFC+HFO refrigerants, it causes no damage to the ozone layer. Its safety classification is A1 group L1, meaning that it has a low toxicity and is non-flammable.

Can you replace R22 with R407A?

A few popular R22 alternatives are R410A, R134A, R407C, R407A, MO99, and RS-44b. This type of refrigerant is safe for the environment, affordable, and easy to store, use, and transport.

What is the difference between R407A and R407C?

Freon™ 407C exhibits similar performance to HCFC-22 at air conditioning conditions, while Freon™ 407A exhibits similar performance to R-404A with lower capacity at low and medium temperature refrigeration conditions.

What is R448A refrigerant used for?

Solstice N40 (R-448A) is a zeotropic blend designed to serve as a replacement for R-22 and R-404A in supermarket refrigeration retrofits or new systems. It provides an excellent combination of low GWP and high energy efficiency.

What refrigerant does R448A replace?

R448A refrigerant – an excellent replacement for R404A It was designed to serve as a replacement for R404A (and R22) in low and medium temperature systems, such as refrigeration solutions in supermarkets and vending machines connected to the power grid.

Is R448A A drop in for R22?

What is Opteon xp40 refrigerant?

Opteon™ XP40 is a high-performing refrigerant for low- and medium-temperature refrigeration. It can be used in new equipment and can replace R-22, R-404A, R-507, and R-407A in existing equipment. As a retrofit, Opteon™ XP40 offers:

What are the benefits of Opteon™ xp40 as a retrofit?

As a retrofit, Opteon™ XP40 offers: Significant GWP reduction: 67% lower GWP than R-404A and R-507, 33% lower GWP than R-407A and 30% lower GWP than R-22 After extensive field testing, retrofitting with Opteon™ XP40 does not require changes to equipment, lubricants, or seals.

What is R507 refrigerant used for?

This refrigerant provides improved performance versus R404A and R507 in new and existing equipment, and has become the leading refrigerant used in various applications such as: Low- and medium-temperature industrial direct expansion (DX) refrigeration
