What is a candle shade?

The original idea for using small Candle Shades on candles dates back to the 19th Century. Candle Shades enhance and diffuse the light from the candle flame and eliminate glare. Flattering to the complexion! The Shade sits on the ‘carrier’, and as the candle burns down, the carrier and shade move with it.

What is candle lamp?

Candle light bulbs are designed to look like the flame from a candle (hence their name), and are often used when a more decorative type of light bulb is needed. Many desk lamps, chandeliers and wall lights use these light bulbs to mimic a real candle and give the lamp a vintage look.

How do I choose a lampshade?

The shade should be twice as wide as the lamp base, and one third of the total height of the lamp. So for a 6-inch lamp base, the shade should be at least 12 inches wide. And if the total height of the lamp (including the bulb and harp) is 24 inches, the shade should be 8 inches tall.

What are candle toppers for?

If you’ve ever burned a large candle you may notice the flame flickering and dancing about. A candle topper essentially eliminates this flicker allowing a constant heat source to radiate out over the wax surface allowing for a consistent and even burn.

What is candle warmer lamp?

A candle warmer is basically a lamp installed with a halogen bulb. (Halogen bulbs are usually used as lighting accents in some homes, as well as food warmers by caterers.) You can adjust the brightness with a dimmer switch—the brighter it is, the warmer the light gets.

What’s a candle topper?

A candle topper is typically an elegantly designed metal “lid” that sits on top of your larger jar candles while they burn.

What does a candle cover do?

Candle jars usually come with a lid, which can be used when it’s time to extinguish the flame. Simply blow out the candle gently and then cover immediately with the lid to prevent dust and dirt from getting on the wax and wick. It also helps trap the smoke.

Why do Yankee candles have lids?

Lids on scented candles protect the wax in your candle from daily dust and grime, and you can use them to prop up your jar and shield your surfaces – so we’ll be taking a leaf out of Roja’s book and hanging on to ours from now on.

Is a candle warmer better than burning?

General benefits. Candle warmers are a safer option for burning candles and/or wax because there is no open flame and many candle warmers come with an auto-off function, which reduces the risk of house-fire. In addition to these safety benefits, candle warmers do not produce any soot and burn candles more efficiently.
