Do surfboard fins come with screws?
You’ll need to purchase two grub screws for each plug as these do to come with the board. Carefully put the screws into the pre-threaded holes in the plugs, and then insert and attach the fin as normal. FCS compatibility kits can also be purchased which include silicone spacers for the front of the fins.

How to install a single fin:
- Line up the pin. Line up the pin with the notch in the center of the fin box and slide the pin into its channel.
- Line up the screw hole and plate. Line up the hole in the base of the fin with the screw plate inside the fin box.

What does fin Rake do?
The sweep, or rake, is how far the front edge of a fin arcs backwards. Rake or sweep angle is a measurement that determines how far back the fin curves in relation to its base. Fins with a small rake (large offset) help propel the board, are very stable and predictable but are not ideal for making sharp fast turns.

- Clean fin holes on board of any debris.
- Clean any debris on the fin opening (female).
- Insert screw into fin by hand.
- Place fins and screw into the holes.
- Using a screwdriver or screw gun (which works best), get the screw into the plastic fin.
Where does a single fin box go?
Single fins positioned towards the rear of the board allow for more drive, speed, and stability. A single fin placed farther back will be harder to turn quickly, but is perfect for down the line drive and nose-riding.
Are surfboard fin screws a common size?
The size of longboard fin pin is 3/16” Diameter by 9/16” long. If you’re making your own fin or your pin fell out, you can affix a new one with a small amount of epoxy. The size of a single fin screw is 10-32 x ¾”. The plates are about ½” x ½”.
