How do I participate in ACSL?

Students participate as individuals, and should register at http://www.seedasdan.org/acsl. Students take the ACSL contests translated into Chinese, and top students are invited to participate in ACSL’s end-of-year Finals. Students in Vietnam should reach out to our partner, Research Institute of Creative Education.

How does ACSL scoring work?

Certificates are awarded to top students and teams in both divisions. A 3-score team can have at most 12 students; a 5-score team can have at most 20 students. Your team score is the sum of the best 3 or 5 student scores that contest. Those best scores can come from different students each contest.

How many questions is ACSL?

Each contest consists of an online 30-minute, 5-question non-programming test, focused on a single category of content. A different category will be tested on each contest. There are four contests during the regular season. The window during which each contest can be accessed on HackerRank is as follows.

Last year, over 500 teams in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia participated. ACSL offers multiple divisions, providing an appropriate challenge for students of varying ages and abilities.

What is the format of the ACSL finals?

The ACSL Finals will be online, using the HackerRank platform that students have used during the regular season. All students will start and finish at the same time. The format will be the same as used during the regular season. There are no team awards.

How do I register for the ACSL?

In partnership with the Academic Consulting and Education group, schools in Korea should register at www.kcsl.acsl.org. Students participate in the regular season contests, translated into Korean; scores are reported in the ACSL leaderboard and top students are invited to ACSL’s end-of-year Finals.
