Can you oil out with Galkyd?

For creating thin washes of color, we recommend Galkyd Slow Dry or a 50/50 mixture of Galkyd and Gamsol. Use the “oiling out” technique, rather than retouch varnish within the painting structure. “Oiling out” effectively evens out the surface quality and saturates colors while bonding permanently to paint layers.

Can I use Galkyd Lite for oiling out?

You can use the Galkyd Lite straight if you want, but I prefer it diluted with Gamsol. For oiling out, keep it as thin as you can, otherwise you may have adhesion issues. Wiping it down with cheesecloth is recommended when oiling out with Galkyd and Gamsol.
