Is it safe to rename a hard drive?
It has no effect whatsoever on usage, windows will continue to see the drive as it always did before. Its perfectly safe to do.
What should my drive letters be?
Computers containing a hard drive always have that default hard drive assigned to a C: drive letter, and the CD-ROM or another disc drive is the last drive letter (e.g., D:).
Why are hard drives named C?
The letter-naming scheme for disk drives dates back to the early days of DOS. The letters A and B were reserved for the floppy disk drives, whereas C was assigned to main hard disk partition which had the operating system and related system files.
What happens if I rename a drive?
While you can rename a removable drive, like an external hard drive or USB flash drive, it reverts to its default name after disconnecting and reconnecting the drive.

Normally no unless you already have something installed and it’s trying to find files that are no longer located where they used to be.
What comes after Z drive?
Nothing, you can’t go beyond Z:, beyond that you would use NTFS Folder mount.

They must have confused the concept between C drive and SSD, C drive is not equal to SSD. In fact, most of the time, the C drive is used as the system partition of the computer to store the operating system and related data. An SSD is a solid-state drive, and an SSD can be divided into many partitions.
Why do drivers start with C?
On computers running Windows or MS-DOS, the hard drive is labelled with the drive letter C, because it is the first available drive letter for hard drives.
Is it safe to change drive letters?
There are drives whose letter you can safely change. If a partition contains only data files that you rarely use, changing the drive letter may cause an occasional annoyance but rarely anything worse. External drives’ letters can almost always be changed without problems.

Why are there no A and B drives?
