Can you adjust the draw weight on a compound bow?

The draw weight on a compound bow can be changed by adjusting both limb bolts, which are usually locked into the riser with locking bolts located just below the top limb or above the bottom limb. The draw weight is adjusted by tightening or loosening both limb bolts equally.

How do I increase the pound on my compound bow?

To adjust the draw weight, we have to unload or load more stress (flex) on the limbs; we do that by tightening or loosening the limb bolts. To raise draw weight to maximum poundage, tighten the limb bolts (clockwise) until both limbs are tight against the riser.

How do I calculate my draw length?

To measure your draw length, stand with your back to a wall stretching your arms out against the wall. Measure the distance from the end of your middle finger to the end of your other middle finger, basically the length of both arms, hands and chest. This measurement, minus 15 then divided by 2, is your draw length.

How far should an arrow go past the rest?

1″
The best safety practice is to make sure your arrows sit at least 1″ beyond your arrow rest when the bow is at full draw. A little bit of extra arrow length gives the arrows an important margin of safety. A little too long is okay. A little too short is not.

Whats a good FPS for a compound bow?

Now that you understand the determining factors and how they can be changed to alter the total speed, we can say that today’s compound bows shoot an average speed of between 300 and 340 FPS. The average adult hunter should have a perfectly sufficient compound bow if the IBO FPS speed is somewhere in that range.

How do you determine arrow length?

The standard way to measure arrow length is from the back of the point to the throat of the nock. Your draw length and arrow spine will influence your arrow length. If you’re a 28-inch draw length and want an arrow that ends at the front of the riser, your arrow length would be around 27 inches.
