Why is my Intex saltwater system not producing chlorine?

The saltwater chlorinator needs a sufficient flow of water for effective operation. A dirty skimmer basket, clogged or dirty filter, and a clogged pump strainer, can cause insufficient water flow for the chlorinator to produce less chlorine.

How do I know if my Intex chlorinator is working?

The easiest way to ascertain if the chlorinator is working is to make sure the cell is clean by checking the needle or production lights. Ensure there is enough salt in the pool. On the chlorinator box there should be a light or dial that indicates it is working.

How do you fix a salt water generator?

The best way to fix this is to clean the salt cell.

  1. Test the pool water chemistry to know the chemical levels of the pool water.
  2. Turn off the pool pump and chlorinator.
  3. Remove the salt cell from its housing and spray it with warm water.
  4. Soak the salt cell in salt cell cleaner for 15 minutes.

What causes a pool pump to stop working?

It could be something blocking it, a dirty pool filter, or too much air in the system. If there’s something blocking your pump’s suction, check your filter gauge. If it’s 10psi above the normal reading, clean your filter. This will reduce pressure and reset your pump’s flow.

How do you reset a salt chlorinator?

To reset, move the switch to ‘Off’ and then back to ‘Auto’. Wait for the relay to click (5 to 10 seconds). When the instant salt level is stable (and the negative sign still present), slide switch to ‘Super Chlorinate’ and back to ‘Auto’. It takes about 30 seconds for the unit to settle back on the default reading.

How do I know if my pool pump is not working properly?

5 Signs Your Pool Pump Isn’t Working

  1. Pool water is dirty despite running pump.
  2. The pressure gauge reads >12 psi.
  3. Still not working after backwashing the filter and cleaning the skimmer basket.
  4. It is leaking water.
  5. It’s making weird noises.
